The Sprint duo of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Veronica Campbell-Brown did not let the nation down when they fulfilled its high hopes of medals in the 100m and 200m sprint events. In a true spirit of showmanship and perseverance, Veronica Campbell-Brown took Bronze in the 100m event held on Saturday, August 1st, while Fraser-Pryce took Gold in the same event. Fraser Pryce returned to take the Silver medal a week later on August 8th.

Although many, including the talented swimmer herself, were hoping for a first, second, or third place in the women’s 100m breast stroke, Alia Atkinson swam her way to an equally satisfying kind of victory instead.

As the Olympic Games in London approach, team Jamaica prepares for what is sure to be an exciting and extremely successful period. A flurry of activity surrounds the 50 athletes from 4 sporting disciplines that will make up the nation’s team at the Games, which run from July 27- August 12.

Jamaica will be represented at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games by Mr. Errol Kerr who will participate in the Ski Cross event. The Games open on February 12 in Vancouver, Canada and Errol’s event, the Ski Cross, will take place on February 21.
